JIGGY WIGGY / THE QUEER MUMMER IN THREE ACTS
Created in 2019 for the inaugural exhibition Labour Laws at Union House Arts in Port Union, Jiggy Wiggy was a combination of crocheted outfit and performance. Based off of traditional fishing gear and using a combination of wool and nylon rope, Jiggy Wiggy was a mummer based off outport life.
During the opening, I performed The Queer Mummer In Three Acts, where I did a strip tease to PJ Harvey’s Meet Ze Monsta, I sang a parody of I Had A Hat entitled I Had A Mask, and did a lipsync to Will Smith’s Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It. The nylon rope mask was later sold and the rest of the outfit would go to live on as Strippy Tease in my exhibition Ballad Of The Queer Mummer.
